You mentioned a fuel injector relay...did you mean fuel pump relay? If you haven't jumpered this, it would be well worth it to at least eliminate a potentially easy but common problem. I'm sorry- I've been way for a few hours- if I just happened to miss reading all you've already done.

I did replace it, but with a used one so I have no idea if it's any good. Having very few tools to work with at home, I'm going to bring some materials to work with. I will be jumping it as soon as I get home.

The Hella pump is a re-boxed Walbro which should run forever.Speaking of which, any feedback on the Hella Pump, or partsgeek.com?

That's good to know. I do consider myself fairly handy with a wrench, but I'm new to Volvo's as this is my first. It seems that I'm experiencing all of the systems inherent features.

If you do decide to replace with Walbro pump, you can get it from

WOW, short money. I'm going to jump the relay when I get home, if that doesn't do it, I'll order this pump. I'm still a bit confused as to why there was no fuse in slot two though.

Well, I've jumped pins 1 and 3 for the ruel pump relay, I can hear the pump and gas flow. The car will still not start, I do have spark at the plug but maybe not enough? A neighbor mentioned the Mass Air Flow Senser, would this prevent the car from starting? There's nothing physically wrong with it that I can tell.
I'm pretty much out of answers at this point. I'm getting gas, and spark. Still not sure if it's enough spark as I don't have any way to test it.
I had my PCV system serviced last November. At that time I replaced the front strut mount bushings, and installed a used alternator. Before the PCV System job, my car was bleeding oil arterially. This is the first time I’ve taken the spark plug wire cover since then; there were still puddles of oil on the head. I pulled the plugs and cleaned them, still no start. Is there another area I should be looking?

Two things that I can think of that will keep your car from starting (when all else is fine)...that's the MAF (if it's completely dead) and the cam position sensor (CPS). If the MAF is completely dead, pull the connector to it...the car should start- not great, but it will start.
Btw, you know it's something really simple- when these things happen like this, it almost always is.

I tried that, didn't start. I'm getting concerned about the oil on the head. It was getting too dark to see, but I cleaned everything off. Tried to start it, then pulled a plug again after it wouldn't start. There was a lot of oil on the spark plug again, there may have been more in the cylinder, but it was too dark to tell. I need more daylight to check it, but at this time of the year daylight is limited, and I have no garage to work in. How can oil get into the cyinder head, other tht blowing by the piston rings. Wouldn't it have attempted to start anyway?

If you've got oil all the way in there, about the only way is to put your foot on the gas...all the way and just keep cranking and cranking and cranking...you'll burn off the oil so be aware of this out your exhaust but your car should eventually start. That or starter fluid in there, but that's something I don't know much about- does someone else?
