Hey. I just wanted to inform all users and moderators (mod may place this post in the appropriate section) that regarding the radio codes if its an ALPINE made radio as most volvo radios are, or at least were till the 90s sometime, Alpine will, if you call them and ask them (make sure when the prompts ask you select tech support) most likely tell you that you can ship it to them (to New Jersey but make sure you call before shipping) and they'll bench it and get the code for you and send it back no cost. The tech said when I called last night that turn around is around 2 days after they receive the stereo. They can do Volvo stereos just as long as its Alpine made. Just call Alpine Electronics for the address and info. I thought I'd share this info. It's a last resort but good to have handy just in case the dealers give a hassle or charge. I apologize I don't have their number. It is upstairs in my apt and the net's down so I'm using the downstairs pc now. lol

Have you had a problem with the dealer giving you a code?

Volvo require them to give the code free of charge, no exception to that rule, if you supply the VIN number or the radio serial number. The dealer may ask for proof of ownership but must supply the code when satisfied.

No, bill i have had no issues with the dealership giving me the code for the radio, just thought id throw it out as another option.Only problem was the dealership here failed to give volvo thier dealer code and so forth(no return fax number lol) so i had to call volvo and they gave it to me directly, over the phone
only issue is i need the wiring color codes for the sr-7145 model stereo so that i may install it in my 1986 740. Also, there is a seperate code for the tape deck. Id assume the setreo will give me an enter code for the deck option but, if not how do you go abouts at entering that code once i get the proper wiring and its set up?

From which model of Volvo is the SR-7145? I may have a wiring diagram.

I have never heard of a separate code for the tape deck, but we are talking about car manufacturers so anything is possible.
