Why are you wanting to know- We don't have 10 valve engines in the U.S. I believe 10 valve is non-turbo only, but I may be wrong.

I think he wants to know which engine is better the 10V or the 20V. Although he asked which is worse. I have absolutley no experience with a 10V engine and don't think they are avaliable in canada. BUt the 20V is a very strong and reliable engine if serviced on a half normall schedule. Hope I understood your question.

Well, can't help with the original post, but I do have a 10v engine on my Canadian 850. I bought it pretty recently, but from looking at the service records, I'm pretty sure it's a Canadian car!

I was pretty surprised when the seller told me it was a 10v car, as I also thought they were never sold around these parts. But I checked the engine number and it does appear to be a 10v engine. Non-turbo, by the way.

It's not a turbo.. I think it performs pretty well, but considering my previous car had 70hp, pretty much anything would make me happy. I think the 10v has 148hp, a bit less than the 20v, but it doesn't really bother me. It's nice to have a somewhat responsive car, but it wasn't my main concern when I bought it

I just wanted a volvo!

I think the 10v might have better gas mileage, but I wouldn't know - still need to replace my odometer gears!

For some reason best known to Volvo they did produce 10v 850s for the Canadian market in 1995 and 1996.

The 10v petrol engine does necessitate more gear changes so may not be as economical as the 20v.

The only 10v with a turbo is the D5252T which was only produced in 1996 and 1997 and didn't make it to the US or Canada.
