Smashed passenger window on a Ford

Ford small SUV, 2004... I forget the name. Electric windows. It was a theft.

Question: because the deductible is $500, should I tell my friend to not tell her insurance company about it, and simply have it fixed out of pocket (for surely less than $500)? That's my inclination.

Also, what should I look for in an auto glass shop? Any recommendations? Should I expect an AAA member discount?

You can try all the discounts. Most glass shops can do the work with ease and glass isn't that expensive. There are even shops that will come to your house. I doubt it will even be $500 unless the window motor is also affected.
