xc v70 Hood opening Latch

I have a Volvo xc v70 and I cannot get the hood open without having someone else holding the release as I pick up on the hood. WHen I do it alone I get to the front of the car and only one side is released. How can I cure this...tks

One of the latchs is not releasing because there is not enough upward "tension" on the hood on that side. It's an age problem with S/V70s. The cure is to adjust the latch downward about 1/16" or better using the three bolts that secure the latch bracket to the side of the fender panel. This is about a 10 min. job.
