2002 S60 Error Code P0032

Post by robertsvolvo »

I am receiving an error code P0032 - HO2S Heater Circuit High Voltage Bank 1 Sensor 1. Can someone elaborate as to what may cause this error and how it can be resolved? I am guessing that it has something to do with the O2 sensor but am confused by the mention of heater in the description. Any guidance you could provide would be helpful. Thanks!

Welcome to MVS.
From what I understand, the first 02 sensor (front one) is heated, and so this code is for that sensor- doesn't mean it's bad. Check for vacuum leaks first. If you have a torn hose this code can be set. What are you miles on the S60? Unless you're over 100K miles, I would not really suspect the 02 sensor yet. That said, there is a way to test that sensor- but on your car, I'm not sure what the readings should be. Hopefully someone will chime in.

Hello,
Thanks for welcoming me into the group and for the information. All of my vacuum hoses look pretty good. My car does have about 109,000 miles on it so perhaps it is time for a new O2 sensor. At first I though oh, a new o2 sensor, that's probably under $100. Then I started shopping for them. It looks like the retail price for them is about $250. I did find some on ebay for considerably less. If anyone does have information related to diagnosing the O2 sensor I would certainly appreciate it!

Try, with the engine idling, spraying some car cleaner around your vacuum hoses...if one is cracked it will suck in the fluid and the engine will surge...especially check the small ones that bend round the side of the intake manifold. If that's not it, then try www.fcpgroton.com and eeuroparts.com for your 02...don't buy some generic one- our OEM part is really the only one that works- made by Bosch.
