Check Engine Light/Transmission Service Message
Check Engine Light/Transmission Service Message
I have a 99 S80 with 130,000 miles. The ABS warning light had been on for months, but I was told the module repair would be $1200 or so, so I held off. I then started getting other messages (power steering, brake failure) and the check engine light on. I decided to go ahead and get the ABS module replaced. After replacement, the ABS warning is now off, but the check engine light remains on permanently and I'm getting a transmission service message. The transmission seems fine; I had a rebuilt transmission installed about 20,000 miles ago. Is there a way for me to determine easily whether the computer system simply needs to be reset or whether there really is a problem with the transmission? Thanks.

ABS light on causes all kinds of problems on our cars....get it fixed first and I'd say 90-100% of your other issues will self-correct.
