At what point do you know if your turbo is on it's last legs? Help needed with my son's S-70 T5 1999.

Thanks In Advance

Usually a good indicative is a plume of blue smoke out of the exaust that may or may not be accompanied by a grinding/whining sound that comes from the turbo. A comun mistake made by many turbo-charged car owners is not allowing the turbo to stabalize before turning the engine off or reving the engine (coz it sounds cool) and cutting the switch. What this does is interrupt the precious oil flow to the turbo's bearings, thus slowly but surely sending it to its demise. Something you might want to check before giving up on it is the pressure bypass valve mounted on it. Since this valve works with the flow of exhaust gasses, carbon deposits can form on or within it causing it to malfunction.

I hop this may help you a little.
