I bought a 2002 C70 last week on ebay. I've bought several cars on ebay but this is the first one that has not been exactly as advertised. I did a carfax but nothing bad showed up. The car has 44K miles and runs and drives just as it should. I 'm guessing that the car was either stoled or just vandalized. the wiring on the stereo system was partially cut & missing. The console has marks and cracks where it was pried out.
The biggie is the front seats are not original. With the top down I can see that they don't really match the back seat and the drivers seat is too worn for a 44K mile car.
Bottom line is I need to find some good Volvo salvage yards. I'm in central Alabama and havn't been able to find one near me. If anybody can tell me about one that specializes in late model Volvo parts I will really appreciate it.
Need salvage yard information

Welcome to MVS.
You live between me and my sisters (Birmingham) and in our areas, the Pull-A-Parts are sometimes a good place to go. If one near you doesn't have your car, you can actually request a wrecked one and when one comes up, they will (if you're lucky) send it to the yard near you. This may take some time, so if you're not in a rush, you'll be okay. Of course, you should continue to look elsewhere for your parts as well. http://www.pullapart.com/Locations/Main.aspx Otherwise, troll this board, swedespeed and the volvospeed classified sections. Maybe V.S. is best as many dismantle their Volvo's there. Btw, despite your car being an '02 C70, other earlier 70 series Volvo's ('99-'00) have the same part numbers as yours, so be aware of that and don't just look for a "C." The first generation x70 series was only extended into the later years (until '05) with the C70 while the XC, V, and S70's ended and was redesigned as the P2 platform from model year '01 (for XC and V70's...the S70 never resurfaced in the P2's- instead, the S60 was born).
Good luck!

Thanks for your tips and helpful information. I've made a not of the info. Best regards, mylanwayne
So, I just bought an '02 xc70 w/a bad left door lock. Not wanting to pay $300+ to the dealer or $135 just for the part, I began looking for a used lock assembly. Major pain. I finally stumbled upon a place in Georgia (I'm in MN) that deals predominately with Volvos. I called them up on a Monday and I had my lock assembly plus a few other bits I wanted by Thursday. They charged $50 for the lock and $10 UPS and the other parts were also reasonable. Great service and more than fair prices. Much better than an expensive gouging by my local Volvo dealer, although they often throw in some attitude for free. Just my experience, but you may want to give them a try if you still need parts. Cheers!
