Transmission Fluid Drain/Flush
Transmission Fluid Drain/Flush
What is the general consensus concerning the recommendation to drain and/or flush the fluid in auto transmissions? My specific vehicle is a 2001 V70 XC with 100,000 miles. I am not having any problems with the tranny and the fluid looks and smells fine.

What is the best thing to do on the newer Volvo. Drain and fill partially or Flush and Fill? What are the pros and cons? Is there any risk to flush and fill?

Does Volvo (owners manual) recommend changing the fluid on 2001+ cars? I think it's (nearly) well-known that Volvo does not only not recommend this on 850s, it is not part of scheduled maintanance. The 850s trans is a "sealed system." I use quotes because many have changed their fluid, myself included.
