1998 S70 T5 - Name That Hose

Post by ddpphx »

Hi All,

I have a 98 S70 T5 with a cracked hose. I don't know what it does, what it is called, or its part number -- so I can't seem to find it on FCP Groton (where I'm buying other items). Please take a look at the attached image and let me know if you can . . . "Name . . . That . . . . Hose".

Thanks in advance.

It is the idle air control valve hose, I'm trying to find a part number for you.

Edit: Try part number 9146225.

Thanks a lot, Lee. Looks like FCP carries it but is out of stock at the moment. They should be able to help me out, though.

There is another hose I haven't been able to identify as yet -- any ideas on part #?

Many, many thanks.

If I was at the shop I could look it up in about 30 seconds, but I don't happen to be, so...

I do know I can get that hose from one of my supplier, so it stands to reason FCP should have it too, we just need a part number. I'll try to remember to check it next time I'm there.

It looks like there are two variations of the pipe and from the picture yours is the lower one in the picture. I can't find the short hose that connects it on the parts list though. It may just be a small chunk of stock heater hose.

If you can identify it on the diagram I can search for the part number.

Thanks for taking a look, Lee and John.

Lee - I also couldn't find this hose in the VADIS diagram. I'm thinking you are right -- this hose is short and straight enough to possibly not even warrant a part number.

Thanks again, and happy motoring.

That hose runs the coolant to the turbo...see how it's a "Y" there? One side goes to the engine block, the other to the turbo. I'm looking right now for that part number in VADIS. I'll post back when/if I find it.

I don't believe there is a 'Y' in that hose, unless you're talking about the steel line it connects to. It's just a straight rubber hose.

I have never tried looking it up in VADIS, but I know one of my supplier's databases has a listing for that hose. Now, it may be they just cut a chunk on 1/2" heater hose and sell it to us, but I will definetely check.

Oh, now I see the diagram you're talking about the 'Y' in. That's the steel pipe, and the rubber hose connects directly to it.

On a slight tangent, the gasket where that pipe connects to the back of the head is an absolute SOB to replace short of pulling the head. Just in case anyone was wondering. :)

Try this: #6842190
http://www.fcpgroton.com/search.php?nod ... &do=search
Or, it could be the outlet hose #30713305
(Then I was wrong earlier and that hose that connects to the metal "Y" is "from" the turbo and not to it): http://www.fcpgroton.com/category-exec/ ... _and_Parts

The 6842190 is **not** the hose you're looking for, this hose is right under the turbo. Probably wise to change as well though.

30713305 looks like it could be it. Not sure, but it looks right and the description sounds good.
