What tires to buy for a 04 XC90?

Post by craig1104 »

I just bought my 04 XC 90 a week ago. The previous owner lived in a very rural area of the state and needed a tire with lots of traction an installed Nokia snow tires with studs. They are very LOUD and I would like to replace them. I think the owner lived on a dirt road cause there is lots of mud stuck on the undercarriage. Does any one have a recommendation of what tire I should get?

Not sure for your car, but www.tirerack.com has a great site where they will recommend tires for you as well as show you ratings and reviews. Click on the car, then tires and then see what others have said. I've been buying from tirerack now for over 10 years and they are great! I have the tires drop-shipped to an installer near me who put them on and balance my tires and save quite a bit.

I put Goodyear Futura's on my wife's last spring.

As advertised they are quiet and make the XC90 handle much better than the Michilin's that I replaced.

The best feature is the rim protector.
I hate seeing wheels that people have driven into a curb.

MikeE,

After a year how would you rate this tire for wear and comfort, are they on an AWD?

Thanks

Hi all, my 07 xc90 is due for tires and was looking at tirerack.com for replacment, my local shop was giving me the yokohama envigor as replacement as i have the michelin pilots currently. size is 235/60/18. I notice that the yokohama are "H" rated. My michelin's are "V" rated. Would there be an issue in terms of ride quality of any impact in suspensions? . Just cruising when driving, not really pushing the xc in terms of driving style. below is the tirerack review. Let me know your thoughts as yoko's have a good price at $196+tax installed , im in toronto by the way.

thanks in advance

i did 255/55/18 nitto nt420s, my car is lowered with h and r springs, ipd rear camber bushings. that being said. my suv handles well, and drives well in wet and dry weather with these tires.

look at this alternative size. much more choices and better pricing.

thanks for the advice, i went ahead and put on the firestone destination ST, good review from TR, so far so good at 300KMS, smooth, absorbs the bumps better than the pilots when i got them new, hopefully thread wear is correct at 65KMS , cheers, i wanted to go 255 but since i dont have winter shoes i decided on the 235's
