Just a word of caution on ceramic pads (if you decide to get them)... they don't work so well until they heat up...this means, don't start your car and then go dashing off onto a highway... hit your brakes a few times coming out of your driveway, etc. in the morning before getting on any busy street...this should be sufficient enough to warm them up. Once they are warm, they work very well.

Interesting, I hadn't noticed. I do several small stops on my way to the highway so I guess I never experienced cold ceramic pads. But good to know.

Does anyone have any experience with some of the other aftermarket brands that IPD and FCP Groton sell, like Mintex and PBR? I'm looking for a more affordable alternative to OEM or Akebonos.

thanks

I'm running Mintex on all of mine. They work fine if you use Sil Glyde grease on the back of the pads or I have also used a Permatex product called Disc Brake Quiet on the back of the pads. They are a little cleaner than OEM but they are still fairly dirty.

I am running PBR Deluxe(non-asbestos organic) pads on the T5. They are low dust pads(I've cleaned the rims maybe once in 1.5 years and they are still clean), but they squeal more than the original Volvo pads.
