My grandfather gave me his 240, he stopped driving and my old 240 was in a terrible condition (85 diesel with 390.000K).
The 'new' on is a 89 with only 144.000 K in perfect condition.
I'm going to replace the stereo with a newer one. This should be no problem because i did it with the old one to, but this one doesn't have speakers in the back so i have to put them in myself.
The main problem is the wiring to the trunk. I've been looking at the wires from the antenna but i don't know how they run. They gow over the wheelarch into the bodywork.
Does anyone know how they run or how i can get other wires(for the speakers) to the trunk?
The second problem is that the new 240 is one headrests in the back and the metal plate that supports them does not have the holes for the speakers that my old 240 had. What is the best way to put seakers in. I was thinking of making small wooden boxes to fit the speakers because i don't to be cutting in the metal.
Is there anyone who has a volvo with the speakers in the back and the headrests?
How was it originally done?
240 wiring to the trunk for speakers / placement speakers.

I ran the wires under the trim down the side it pulls up dont be scrared it will take force there are steel clips holding it they release if u pull the trim. this is how it is done in nearly all cars, pulled the rear seats out and run them through holes behind the seat into the boot then connected them to the speakers in the parcel shelf in the back, cutting holes for the speakers is very easy u just need a jigsaw, i would do that instead of putting them in boxes, alot better sound. iv got two 6x9 speakers i just cut holes and screwed them down. iv got two 12 inch subwoofers in the boot too.
Did you get the 6x9's in without any modification to the steel? If so that is good news.
I have a 1984 242DL Coupe. There are two covers that protrude at each side of the parcel tray.
I have been trying to find out which speakers will fit without modifying the steel. I don't want a sub or anything.
