Thanks for your replies guys.

I think I will do my best to test the system, I'm really quite fine doing the evap as I'd love to fix the cracked dash, and with 300,000 K's I wouldn't mind doing a few other things while I'm in there.

My hope is that it's the accumulator for ease, but that it's the evaporator for other reasons.

Let's see what happens.
