850 Code 121

Post by Mister 93 »

I have a 93 850 GLT 5 speed with 163K on it. My Service Light and check engine light are on. The code blinks 121 Manifold Absolute Pressure signal absent or faulty. Can someone tell me what this means?
Also does anyone know where i can get inexpensive parts on the net? I need replacemacement wiper arms for my headlights.

thanks,

I could be corrected by another more experienced user as my Volvo education has just recently begun but this site has been invaluable. I have had recent issues just like yours

1.) The service light is a separate issue from your check engine light. You will find numerous posts and solutions to turning that off here on Matt's site. Since you have already figured out how to get error codes the service light instructions should be no problem

2.) The 1-2-1 code is addressed here from Matthew's shared links area.

your sensor could be bad but this test will keep you from buying unnecessarily. Favorite parts sites are listed all over the forums so just look around a little.

The sprinklers that come on at 3am sound like crowds of people asking-- "Whatcha doin to that 850?"

There are two diagnostic units(it says A and B on the cover) located adjacent to washer reservoir under the hood.

1. Turn on the ignition and open the module A and insert the flylead into socket 7.
2. Press the button on the diagnostic unit 4 times, briefly but firmly.

Then the LED illuminates and stays illuminated, and the system is ready to accept manual code input. A code number for resetting the service reminder light is 1-5-1.

3. To do this, press the test button once and release it. And LED illuminates again.
4. Then press 5 times and wait for the LED to illuminate.
5. Press the button once and LED should flashes several times in succession and the reminder should have been reset.
6. Switch off the ignition and replace the flylead in its holder and close the cover.
