Sunroof

Post by paramedic108 »

Hello. I have a 2002 S60 T5. The sun roof on the car is having some challenges. For example, when it is closing it automatically goes beyond the closed status and assumes that I want it either popped up, or open. This is easily controllable via the switch - just a little annoying.

The second problem I am having is that the sunroof only opens about 50%. It had previously opened all the way allowing a very nice moonroof/sunroof view.

I know that the cables run from the sunroof into the trunk - but since it does open just not all the way I am pretty sure the cables wouldnt be broken. Is there an adjustment, or computer reset to resolve this ?

Thanks to all for your help.
Steve

Welcome to MVS.
Your sunroof needs recalibrating. I'm trying to remember how to do this...on some models, you push to close and then after it is completely closed you keep holding the button to close the sunroof for 5 or more seconds...then you open your sunroof and when it gets to the point that it is open tilted, you keep pushing the button for opening your sunroof for 5 more more seconds and then repeat. See if this works for yours.

Thanks. I tried the steps you mentioned a few different ways - but it continues to do the same. I found this on the Volvo High Performance website a slight variation and will let you know how it works. I bet Volvo could fix it for some obscene $ !

The following procedure must be carried out if battery has been removed from car for over one hour
1. Initialize central locking - lock & unlock the car using the remote.

2. Calibrate blower fan - turn on ignition. Turn fan to maximum. Turn fan to minimum. Done.

3. Calibrate sunroof - (sunroof must be closed). Key in ignition position I. Press switch to tilt sunroof fully. Release. Press switch for at least 5 seconds until roof closes. Release switch. Done.
Repeat this procedure if roof does not operate properly.
Failing that. Completely slide back sunroof to its maximum open position. Release switch. Press switch for at least 5 seconds until sunroof closes completely. Release switch then carry out tilting calibration again as above.

Let us know how it goes- that may have been the procedure I read and I just had it wrong in my description...also, could be for older Volvo's, but I don't think so.

Well the revised procedure failed.....I wonder if disconnecting the battery would make any difference ? Thoughts ?

Battery removal failed also. Did some more searching and found a suggestion to "reset" using the key fab remote. Did so - no luck. Maybe the dealer will be my only option ?

Sounds like that may be your only choice at this point.
But...before that, try this (read instructions carefully- print it out so you'll have it in your car) again:
