Advice on rotors and pads for my 850 turbo

How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

Its time for new rotors and pads.... so I started to research for new rotors, drilled /slotted combo and i have found so many different prices etc etc . I would like to know if anyone can direct me to a site for some reasonably priced rotors and pads, ceramic maybe . I appreciate any input on this area. Thank You

A couple of years ago I bought from R1Concepts on eBay (slotted drilled and zinc plated). These have done great for me and will buy again when I need rotors...nice thing is they never rust! I do use OEM pads (they're dirty but don't squeal), but lately many have been using Akebono pads (www.fcpgroton.com) with great results.

To be honest with you, I think slotted AND drilled are sort of an over-kill. I've come to the conclusion that with that much of the metal drilled away, there is less of the pad contacting the rotor and thus any gains in stopping distance is lost. If I had it to do over, I probably would have just bought slotted- though the drilled really looks good and I'm sure if I were racing or driving mountain roads and braking all the time, they would keep the brakes from over-heating. I do know that I have very little to no fade with my setup.

Here is R1Concept's eBay store: http://stores.ebay.com/R1Concepts/Brake-Rotors.html I see now how they sell ceramic pads with their brake rotors.

I have been using EBC 3GD rotors. They are both cross drilled and slotted, so very similar to the ones used by MIJ. The zinc coating is nice also. I find myself replacing rotors less since switching from OEM to these. Cost is about $160 for Front and I think $140ish for the Rears. I'm not completely sure with the prices, but i can give you the site from my other computer where I buy from.

In terms of pads, I use the OEM pads, just because they do the job and are relatively quiet. Plus I clean my wheels often, so brake dust is not a problem for me.
