99 S80 T6 will not start

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

It is highly unlikely that all of the coil packs would fail at the same time. Weak spark on all of them is symptomatic of low voltage. I'd check the battery voltage and connections and all the engine grounds first. Then I'd check the charging system. When was the last time the spark plugs were changed?

I bought the car about 2mo ago, I have no idea when the sparkplugs were changed last. But would'nt it do something or show some sing if the spark plugs were bad. It was running smooth and then it just shut off at a stop light.

With bad plugs, you would probably have a miss (rough running) rather than a complete stoppage. But it is more likely to be the plugs than the coil packs.

What is your battery voltage?

This is a weird one. I think you're right to think of alarm disabling, for what it's worth.

Update. Last night battery went dead, from cranking so much . Well as I was taking off the battery to charge it, I noticed both terminals were loose. Also looks like the trunk had held some water at some point within the last 2yrs, there is a water mark around the trunk as well as around the battery. The battery is dated 1/07. There is an electrical looking box that's attached to the wheel well wall that looks all rusted, there could be some connections issues there. I'll work on that today and post the results. Hopefully this is not a flood car.

That's not good. That's the REM, or Rear Electronic Module. It's a computerized module, and, damage to it could cause your symptoms believe it or not--by interfering with the CAN network the vehicle uses.

Well today I cleaned the trunk, I cleaned the black box, it had what seemed like multiple power connections that led back to the possitive battery terminal. After claning everything and also checking all the grounds, I reconnected the battery and still nothing. It seem like for a second it was gonna run but it just keeps turning. I'm done, I'll have it towed. All seems to point back to the ETM.

Problem solved! Turns out and this is embarrasing, my fuel gage is off by 1/2 a tank. I was out of GAS!! Even my trip computer says I still had 235 till empty. What really got my attention was when I looked at the oddometer trip 1 and 2, I had cleared those when I last filled the tank. They were reading 367 so it made me wonder this tank is not that big, otherwise I could go for nearly 600mi. Also my son found 2 vacumm hoses that were disconected. So far so good. Now how can the gage be calibrated and the trip comp as well.

Glad your problem was solved...but a new one arrives...hmm. You could try disconnecting your battery to see if that resets your computer. Let's hope this is it- or a trip to the dealer- OR...it could be that the float in the gas tank has come loose or is stuck and is not right- that would be the worst as I'm afraid getting into the tank will be a major headache.

So far so good. Exept the surging is back it is slight but it's there. I'm almost afraid to go back to the volvo store. It just seem everytime my car comes out of there something else breaks or gets mysteriously disconected. Although the surging is a warranty issue. I'll try another volvo dealer.
