Transmission stuck in first gear

Ok guys, need a little help on this one. I am looking at a 2001 s80 President's edition. The dealer said that it needs a module cause it's stuck in first gear. Does anyone have an idea what he is talking about and how much it would cost me?

Sounds like a lock-up solenoid needs replacing- not sure if you can just replace one....hope others know more about this.

Craig can you give us any more than what you wrote? Did the dealer write down anything you can put here in this thread? The more specifics the better.

Off topic: is that the version of S80 (stretched a bit, extra back seat luxuries) that's meant to have a driver?

The topic is mute now, the dealer sold the car. I should have moved quicker but I didn't want to buy a car that needs a transmission. Thanks for your help guys...
