'87 240 Wagon Blinkers Stopped Working

Post by washfit »

Any ideas? The blinkers stopped working - I just get kind of a weak, buzzing vibration from the flasher relay. The 4-way flashers work fine, and every now and then the blinks WILL work for a little bit. I replaced the relay - same problem. Swapped in a spare instrument cluster - same problem. Anyone got a wiring diagram I can look at?
Thanks!

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

Have you checked the indicator switch? It may pay to treat the contacts with a contact cleaner. Over 22 years they will have a fair coating of dust, tarnish and other undesirables.

This wiring diagram does not show the actual lights but they are a straight cable run from the switch. If you need the 'other ends' just ask.

Hi, may I join in? I have an 86, posted earlier about this. Four-Way flashers and bulbs work. Turn signals are stone dead.

Replaced the turn signal indicator switch. No change, both units flash the headlights just fine but no turn signal action. Replaced the relay. No change. Checked the fuses. No change.
:(
Looking for ideas....

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

Anybody can join in. Have you checked to see that 12 volts is reaching the switch?

I have an 87 740 Wagon with the same problem. Driving yesterday and turn signal blinkers stopped working along with power windows. Thank god the windows were closed because it was raining. Main thing is the turn signal blinkers. Installed new fuse #15 but still no blinkers. Should I replace blinker module? Please HELP!!!

audiochuck, welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

Do your hazard lights work or is it just the turn signals you have lost?
