I've searched the forum for some hints to what could be causing this, but I haven't pegged it yet.
After 20+ minutes of highway driving, I pull off the freeway, slow to less than 30mph and my s70 will stall. No sputtering, no warnings. It simply stops. It is then very hard to start.
I have a new ETM (2years). I have replaced fuel filter. I have replaced all plugs. I have no codes on DBII Sensor. It doesn't seem to make any difference with outside air temp or with fuel level in tank. There is no check engine light when or after this happens. The car will start with some trouble, but then run perfectly.
There are times on the freeway, when going over bumps, the engine will hesitate slightly.
Also. I do know that my key-switch (cylinder) is going bad. The key will rotate around and around in the switch, without encountering any stops.
I'd like some feedback on what area I should troubleshoot next.
Fuel Pump? FP Relay? Key Switch? Anything else?

Sounds like bad ground wires off of the negative battery terminal- check the terminal itself for corrosion and the braded wires that attach to the back of the engine block.

I checked them all. They all looked good, but I disconnected each one and touched everything up with a wire brush, just to be sure. Driving and time will let me know. I'll let you know the outcome.MadeInJapan wrote:Sounds like bad ground wires off of the negative battery terminal- check the terminal itself for corrosion and the braded wires that attach to the back of the engine block.
Thanks.

Your ignition switch is screwed. On an 850 it is a piece of cake to fix, on a 70 series it is tougher. Mom did a great writeup for the 70 series and it is pinned here in the database.Also. I do know that my key-switch (cylinder) is going bad. The key will rotate around and around in the switch, without encountering any stops.

"Your ignition switch is screwed. "
Yeah. I know it's screwed. I also know that I'm looking at $600.00 for a new one custom made for my car, in Germany.
I did read the great write up by mom. But.... will the ignition switch being efinheimered, cause my stalling symptoms? Or, am I dealing with a separate problem?
Thanks.
