V70 2005 with clunking front end

Post by ghersey »

I have been getting a subtle clunking noise from the front end. It occurs over bumps and rough roads. It's not horrible, for instance with the radio on you don't hear it. However it does not sound normal.

When I had the car in a few weeks ago I had the dealer take a look. Apparently they could find nothing loose.

The noise is still there. Any ideas of what could be clunking?

Thanks!

Not sure if this helps at all but with my 2001 S60 I had a similar problem. It was more of a rattle then a clunking noise. Which turned out to be bad anti sway bar links.

I've heard the spring seats could cause similar noises. IPDUSA sells replacement spring seats. There product page also describes similar sound that you are describing.

Thanks for the ideas. The car goes in next week to switch out the winter tires. I'll request they check both of these.
