Hi I would like to know the steps to remove the ceiling of a volvo s40 2001 to be upholstered, please mind that this one comes with sunroof.

If you're asking how to get it out of the car, I'm not sure but 850/x70 owners have had to take it out the back or trunk w/ seats folded down all the say. I assume yours will be the same way and you might even have to fold it- trick is not to crease it. That said, you'll have to take off the covers for the posts between the doors as well as the strip going over the doors to the windshield and the same piece going to the back windshield in order to access the "stays" that hold it up. Post back if you need specific instructions- I might be able to find them but will take some searching through some software I have.

I am adding about 6 PDF files below from VADIS. There are a few things I left out but they should be self explanatory. When you connect your battery back, make sure your key is in the ignition and turned to the II position (short of turning the car on). I hope these files are helpful to you.
