Engine Temp Error

Post by eubanksja »

When you first turn on the car (cold) the temp nedle goes all the way to the red (hot). Also you get a warning to shut down the engine. I checked and the collant temp sensor is getting 5 volts. Not sure how to check the sensor but it did not have any resistance.

Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to MVS....the temp sensor going bad does all kinds of crazy things to our cars. Change it out (not expensive) as well as replace the thermostat for good measure- they're right there together so it's a no brainer to do both. I'll bet this takes care of everything.
