Post by KKatto »

Hello every one :D

My S80 details ( Volvo S80 (-06) 2.0T (B 5204 T5) 180Hp 2005 )

This is my first post in this forum 8) , i bought S80 2.0T 2005 before 2 weeks and I'm happy with it and interested to spend around 2500$-4500$ :o (in around next 24 months),As my first car project to tune it up  ... is it worth it? I need the direct advise,As I'm ordered a soft stage0 ( Volvo S80 Turbo Air Filter-K&N /Volvo S80 Turbo Cabin Air Filter-Charcoal Activated /Volvo S80 Turbo Fuel Filter/Volvo S80 Turbo New OEM Oil Filter Mahle /Volvo S80 Turbo Brake Kit Akebono Brembo-12 Inch, Denso Iridium Spark Plug T-5/TURBO IK22,Oil Drain Plug Seal Ring - Aluminum Seal Ring,Upper Engine Stabilizer Poly BushingKit "IPD",and of course "SCANGAUGE-II OBDII TOOL-IPD")

Is this enough for a soft stage0 ?

And regard chip tuning who is the best provider for it ( IPD/BSR/... ? ),And in which stage should be implement ?

How much HP i can gain without hurt my engine or gearbox,& "without hard major tuning" ?

What is you recommendation based in your own car modification experience?,Actually I read read 100's of pages last month to reach a point to understand the complexity & beauty for the Volvo S80 and start have the fever of the tuning charming for S80

Welcome to MVS.
I see you're in Riyadh. Unfortunately, the particular version of the S80 you speak of (2.0T) doesn't exist in the U.S. I believe that the only one we have that is similar to yours is a 2.5T turbo with close to 240 horse power. Also, when you speak of "soft stage-0" that is also something that really doesn't exist here. What we mean by stage-0 is to get the car up to its original condition. What you are proposing has some upgrades, especially with the brakes. The drop-in K&N filter is a decent upgrade but not really a stage-0, or at least what we consider stage-0. Of course, the options you speak of all sound good- Akebono pads with larger rotors, etc. Beyond that, good solid swaybars (such as what IPD sells) and good solid end links would be important. Once you get the basic components that would help your car be safer on the road with upgrades, then next would be upgrades to increase your boost- such as an ECU (computer chip or software upgrade). On the 2.5 liter turbo engine, you can gain 40 to 50 horse power, depending on if you add a down pipe and exhaust or not. The numbers are very close to 300 horse power if you do all of the upgrades. I would think the numbers for horse power increase would be similar with your car- from 180 to 220~230 horse power, but I don't believe that IPD has an ECU upgrade for your car. However, since they use TME as their source and since it is from Europe, you might get in touch with IPD anyway and they could probably help you locate a tuner nearer to you who could help you with a TME upgrade.
Sorry to be so long winded... Is it worth it? I don't know. In the U.S., the '99 and '00 S80 are prone to many electrical problems and possibly some others. Make sure that your car is without problems before considering putting money into it for upgrades.

Thanks for that clarification, and regard Chipping i found that BSR had PPC can support my car as BSR stage1http://en.bsr.se/products/t806/i can gain from 197Hp to 228Hp, but I'm interested with IPD softloder coz i can use it with several cars, and to be used as a diagnostic system .

Anyways deeply appreciate your reply & clearance, but after today accident i have to re-deiced if I'll keep the car after fixing or go with bigger engine :)

Thanks again & I'll let you know in near future

Cheers
