Me either, but I have a foot pump along with my spare so if it's low when I put it on, I can pump it up. Btw, my spare is the same size as my regular tires and is a matching wheel on our S70, V70 and 240...the 850 however has a donut.

Every week but that was how I was trained.

Always inflate the spare to 5psi above the highest spec in the manual to allow for loss when you forget to check it. If you have to use it you can bleed some air out if necessary.

How old is the tyre on the spare?

My son took delivery of his new Vauxhall Zafira this morning. It doesn't have a spare but it does have a 'tubeless tyre repair kit' in a can. Ideal for him as he is disabled and isn't able to change a wheel.

I have been burned twice. I was out of town on a job when my wife took out one of my Persus wheels on the Platinum and the spare was very low (nearly flat), she drove it home anyway and got the other car. I aired it back up and had a flat on another job that was 50 miles or so away from home a few months later. It was low again so shame on me.

My spare is nearly worn to the cords at this point so I guess I either need to go searching at the junk yards or call JustinVW to get a new one. One my other two cars it has never been used. I tired to put my full sized wheel and flat tire in the spare area of the trunk and it wouldn't fit so I guess I'm stuck with the mini spares.

My full size tire fills my spare wheel well to the point that the floor panel is raised slightly, but it's still very worth while.
I was also burned once- Sunday afternoon driving home from the beach and 200 miles out, had a flat and had to use the donut tire to navigate through the mountains of North Carolina to get home- never again.
