1993 940 loses power Topic is solved

HI - I recently purchased a used 940 with 138,000mi on it. When I drive on the highway btw 65-75mph the RPM meter always is at 6, but the other day it suddenly dropped down to 3 while I was driving. I took my foot off of the gas, and in a few seconds it was back up to 6. However, about 20 minutes later the car completely lost power (but all electrical - lights & radio - worked). It occurred when I got off an exit and slowed down. The car did not pick up speed again. It would not go faster than 40 and quickly decreased from there. It sounded like something 'popped' - there was a hissing sound. After I pulled over and let the car sit for 20 minutes (debating whether to call a tow), it restarted and seemed to drive fine - but I did not take the car over 50mph - I just drove it home. I have not driven it since. Any ideas about what the souce could be?
