Keep your Volvo's Radio Code Here

Post by matthew1 »

I was thinking about the bothersome Volvo Radio Code problem the other day, and came up with an idea.

If you want to keep your radio code in a very accessible place, keep it here at MVS, in this very topic. With the Internet getting more and more ubiquitous (phones have web browsers now), access to this site and your code is simple.

Q: Isn't the whole point of codes to be secure? Why put it on the Internet?

A: Yes, but the value of Volvo radios to thieves is now so low -- and has been for years now -- that only a very stupid thief would steal a Volvo OEM double-din height radio. Think about it. What self-respecting black market radio buyer would drive around in his Honda/BMW/Subaru/Toyota with a Volvo radio? Plus, how would the thief or buyer know to come here to view the codes to unlock it? And how would they be able to match a real-life radio with a code here?

This thread will live in the General Discussion forum.

Matthew I plan on coming over later to steal your radio. Actually I wrote mine on a small piece of masking tape and put it inside the removable face plate. Press the two buttons on the side, pop off the front of the radio and there is my code.

I think it's a great idea.
Now if you can think of a way I can keep my extra key here ...

When your car was new the radio code was written on a credit-card type thing that was in your glove box or bundled with your owners kit.

If you don't have that, call the dealer. Here's more: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/2009/0 ... explained/
