My wife's '03 S60 started squealing very loud. There is no Volvo repair in our town, but we took it to a trusted mechanic and he hypothesized it is a leak in the oil vacuum. The loud squealing stops when the oil cap is removed. He suggested it would be over $500 to fix. Has anyone done this themselves?
Also it is time to change the brakes...must the rotors be changed with the brakes as the manual states?
Thanks!
vacuum leak...please help!

Don't know about the squealing- try changing the gasket on the under side of the oil filler cap. In regards to the rotors, no need to change them unless they are worn below specs (I'd have to look yours up)...typically, you can get 2 sets of pads to one rotor change and please don't turn your rotors for a new surface- it wears them down too much- just use OEM pads (or Akebono pads are very reputable among members here) and they will be fine on rotors that have some wear.
