740 1991 Dash speaker grill removal

Does anyone have information on how to remove the dash speaker grills on a 1991 740? I don't wish to tear them up learning how it's assembled.

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

There is a small plastic strip at the bottom of the grill. Gently pry this out with a thin blade. Rock it side-to-side...it pops out. Once that is out you will see what else holds the grill in place. On some 7 & 9 series it is held by 2 x T 25 screws on others by expansion plugs.

This is the only info I can find on this so I hope it is of some help.

Those grills came out exactly as you described...thank you for the tip. However, I discovered that the grill and speaker are molded together as one piece and cannot be separated. This complicates matters somewhat. Is this a typical Volvo type of installation or is there another type of grill that was made that is a separate piece from the grill? Thanks again ....Bob

The parts listing on VADIS shows the grilles are separate for the 1991 model. I can't find any model showing the grille and speaker moulded together. Some are fastened with torx screws and some with expandable plugs.
