1994 850 N/A Wagon, Ignition Problem?

Post by Landru3000 »

My 94 850 n/a wagon runs fine, but has developed a weird thing. When I start it, the ABS light stays on, it won't come come out of park unless I press the shift override switch. It drives fine, but and the headlights and the turn signals don't work.

If I jiggle the key it fixes itself. From what I read, it seem like the electronic part of the ignition switch is defective. It looks like an easy fix:

...and the part (850 1993-1997 Ignition Switch Electrical Portion only 1362960 OES) seems cheap:

Am I missing anything?

No. The only trick is to get a deep extension to get to the smaller torx screws on the collar around the steering column.

All and all it is a 15 minute job.
