Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

alarm system

Post by hiller12c »

I own a 1999 S80 and when I went to my car the other day the alarm on red light on the dash was blinking rapidly. I unlocked the car and started the engine and I had 2 messages. One was "Alarm triggered check car". The other was "Alarm system service required"

When I tested the Alarms function the lights flashed but the horn did not sound nor was the ignition disabled.

Before I take it to the dealer and the machanic probable just presses a button or flips a switch to make it right I'd like to know if there is something I can do.

Thanks for any help.

Check the fuse for the alarm, and check to see that generally the fuses are seated well. That would be a quick and painless step I'd take first.

Then if that didn't work, I'd cross my fingers that someone answers this post who knows more about S80s :).

Then I'd call the parts dept. of the dealer and ask a parts guy what might be wrong. I've gotten a few good pointers out of those folks.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
