the dealer asked $2xx for the part and $9xx for the labor.
I am wondering whether I can do the job by myself.
If someone has experience on it, please tell me.
The current condition is that, the ps fluid is leaking very slowly, for half a month, the level of ps fluid dropped 2mm or so. Can I use some stop leaking ps fluid? Will this cause more severe problem?
thanks guys

Bad news
1) too complicated for DIYs for most cases of power steering leaks.
Good news
1) Leak is USUALLY NOT catastrophic failure prone. i.e leaks will increase over time but is manageable and as long as you top up fortnightly is not a safety issue. Legally though you might be liable if touch wood something happens and fault is attributed to power sttering loss. (again not catastrophic, then again there are always exceptions) Concept in law of guilty knowledge and duty of owner to maintain car in proper condition.
2) stop leaks (solutions work by expanding the rubber seals) will usually work if drop is 2 mm only.
hope this helps.

thanks a lot
I will try to change the ps fluid from atf to stop leaking ps fluid today.
Anyway, I am not that clear, since I don't know the inner structure of the whole pinion assembly, what will happen if I the seal totally blown out?
1. I look the power, which will help me turn
or
2. I cannot make a turn at all
Thanks for your help~~
