960 1996 Bad noise and vibration from climate control blower

Post by doc2x »

There's NO paper/plastic visible in the intake opening. The trap door doesn't open when the blower runs, but I can push it open with a screwdriver. I read the illustrated instructions on how to remove the blower from other models. Will I set off the passenger airbag if I use the same procedure on my '96 960? Thanks.

You may not have to mess with air bag system at all, at least on my '94 one does not. You remove the lower cover on the dash under the glove box and you will gain access to the blower motor. Disconnect the negative battery cable first though, make sure you have the code to activate the radio when you are done.

It does sound as though the bearings may be shot in your blower motor.
