Seal Insulation After Continuity Probe

Post by Jaywalker »

After you probe through a wire's insulation testing for continuity, you have two choices - splice, or re-seal the insulation. If the continuity is good, what do you use for re-sealing under the car or hood?

If its a detachable wire then adhesive shrink wrap is prefered.
If not then liquid tape is fine. Last resort is electrical tape. I do put a tiny dot of silicone sealer under the tape if I can see the wire. You just want it air tight to resist corrosion.

You may want to consider backprobing when possible so you don't puncture wiring casings. Most of the connectors are easy to manipulate with a few specialty tools.
