Hi, I have a 1990 240 DL wagon. I love the car and have been putting money into it just because I love it and want it around for a while. I've been trying to take care of a few "cosmetic" problems recently and realized I had what i think is just a cosmetic noise problem.
Since I owned the car, (two years) there has been a ticking, rattling noise from under the front when i'm driving the car. Doesn't happen all the time, but most of the time. It usually doesn't happen when I first start the car in the morning. When I'm idling in neutral or with the clutch in I do not hear the noise. If I'm driving and put the car into neutral the noise goes away. If I stay in gear and just coast I still hear the noise. Slows down a little when I'm going slow, (in first or second) and speeds up when I am going faster.
I've just been ignoring the noise and turning the radio up louder. I don't think it is a major problem because the car runs fine otherwise, it is just annoying. Anyone have an idea to make my wagon sound beautiful?
