I have a S40 05 2.0D recently i get a funny bad egg smell coming through when i first start driving then is seems to go away untill i start the car again. Is this my catalytic converter on its way out? I booked it in for its M.O.T in 2wks and was just trying to get a heads up on what this problem could be and how much it will cost to fix!
Any help or comments or experiences would help pls !!!!
Thanx

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.
A rotten egg smell is not unusual from a catalytic converter but it doesn't necessarily mean that it is failing. I have smelled this on new cars straight out of the showroom.
Take it for the MOT and see what the examiner has to say.
Bill.
