760GLE 1988 Door Chime

Hi everyone!

Probably sounds like a weird question, but here it goes anyway:

on my 760, the door chime is more of a ding: as can be heard here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxNAyYe1PJg

but I'm interested in having it sound more "chimey" like here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eV4kKmyS4Zo

I'm guessing that the seatbelt reminder relay is what generates the tone? I'm going to the junkyard to get some other parts, if it's a relay that can be swapped out, is there any way to tell which ones "chime" and which ones "ding"?

The questions get more bizarre but I love the challenge.

If the relay fitted to your 760 is original it will be Volvo part #1362896.

The first 'ding' was on a 1991 940 which should have chimed like the 1993 version as they should both have been fitted with relay part #1362268.

The 740 from '84 - '92 had the chime relay as did the 940 from '91 - '95. The part number should be on the relay.

Finally located a #1362268 at the junkers. However, it seems that the pin-out on the relay is different as

It looks like you are stuck with the 760 chime, or was it a ding?

It was a ding

It would appear I am stuck then, but it's not a huge deal, just would have been neat
