Volvo trunck latch/lock

Post by volvos80guy »

Hello, I'm looking for some advice on figuring out the problem with my 2001 S80 trunk latch/lock. I have been opening my trunk with the key for some time and I finally decided to buy a new trunk latch assembly and still, the new latch assembly fails to open with the central lock button or by pressing the button outside of my trunk. I'm sure that I installed it correctly. I do hear a click in the rear fuse box when pressing the rear release or fob. I have checked the valet trunk lock, fuses, etc but can seem to pinpoint the problem. Is there a way to reset the central locking system or does it sound like I have a short somewhere? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

The way it is supposed to work is that you unlock the trunk with the keyfob, but then you have to press the button on the trunk lid above the license plate to open it.

You need to press the door unlock button on your keyfob twice, or press the trunk unlock button on your keyfob twice within 3 seconds to unlock the trunk. If you do that and then press upwards on the rubber button by the license plate, what happens?
