1997 850 t5 with questionable history

Besides an oil leak which my dealer has diagnosed to be a rear main seal, I don't know much about my car's past. Does anyone know of a way to check the VIN# for a repair and mainenance history? Would these records be available from my dealer for repairs done by Volvo?

Not sure if you are in UK or where but over here we phone Volvo HQ and they have all info re the build type and specification of your car together with first dealer and all service history and parts supplies so long as its at a Volvo dealer.

Thanks for your reply. I tried contacting the dealer in the town it was first registered. (Fresno, CA) The dealership folded two years ago and the Lincoln Mercury dalership that took over sales did not get any records. I will try Volvo HQ, if they are here in the US.
