Alternator and fan

Volvo 850 1995 -I just changed the alternator then bought a new battery but a test show that the alternator is over charging, is it harmful to the car? then what need to be done?
Also the service indicator light shows the battery sign with fan shape in the middle what does that mean and what need to be done to make light go away?

If the alternator is overcharging you need to fix it. It will overcharge the battery, causing it to overheat and fail. I would take the alternator back to where I got it and exchange it for another one.
