Yellow 95 855 T5-r

Post by jakub72 »

Hej Hej all!! I just purchased a volvo in Sweden as a temp vehicle until I find that perfect yellow 855 T5-r with a manual. I plan on bringing it back to the US, barring any major headaches from the Envio natzis in the US. Any body have any experience in bringing a vehicle back in? I have done all the reading and it sounds painful but will so worth it to roll that perfect grocery getter with 450 ponies under the hood and car seats!!!!

If the car is DOT, EPA, and NHTSA approved for the US - no problem. If it is not DOT, EPA, and NHTSA approved - huge problem. You will not be able to title it for other than off road use.

The 5 speed T5R was never sent to the US but that may have been a marketing decision rather than a regulatory decision and it may be fine. I would do a lot of e-mailing, along with the VIN number, to the state where you intend to title the car before I payed for the freight to get it here. The alternative is to find a good US spec automatic and then do a 5 speed swap.

I would think that a quick trip down the Autobahn would be in order before you ship it home - is there a bridge to Denmark at Helsingborg?
