Transmission Trouble

Post by Japandan »

I am new to Mathew's site but was wondering if anyone out there has had recurring transmission trouble in their XC 70 2.5 T. Mine is a 2000 and has only 33k mi on it yet I am in the process of negotiating the replacement of my transmission for the second time. The last transmission only lasted 1.5 years and 8k mi. Any additional information regarding similar situations would be appreciated.

I don't think you need a whole bunch of us to tell you that's outrageous.

The trans in 850s/70s isn't the strongest part of the car (engine IMHO), but it should be good for an average of 100k miles.

The XC models are notorious for axle problems. Perhaps a faulty front drive axle is putting extra stress on the transmission.
