2002 S60: the air conditioner starts by itself
Several times I've gone to the garage and the air conditioner is running even though the car hasn't been driven for a while. We haven't had the car very long so I'm wondering if this is normal, or if we need to manually turn the AC off before turning the car off. Please enlighten me. Thanks.

It's normal. The purpose is to dry the evaporator to keep it from corroding.

Thanks, Vegas. So I guess it will shut off by itself also? I've always shut it off by starting the car and then immediately turning it off again. I'll let it go next time and hope it stops on its own.

It sounds like your talking about the radiator fan and not the a.c itself. Depending on outside temps the fan will stay on for a pre-determined period after the ignition has been shut off, to ensure both the condenser is dry and the cooling system temps don't skyrocket.

Air conditioning turns off and on by itself?
while crv running the air shuts off after about 30min and then starts up again all alone without anyone hitting any buttons at all...Just wondering could something be over heating? or could it be a fuse that is tripping the switch? Or something major? any ideas?
