For North Americans here, if you have a "Sams Club" store you may be able to get one of these. I saw them in the store yesterday -- large 30-lbs R134-a air conditioning recharge containers for $58.
This would be well more than enough for a garage full of cars. I have no idea if this would hold the refrigerant for days/weeks/months after the first use.

That's a great price. Those cylinders should have a good valve on them that would seal well and keep the freon in forever.
