diference between automatic and manual starter
I have replaced the starter on my 1999 volvo s-80 T6 2.8. but the starter for an automatic transmission will not engage the fly wheel. which is in good condition no missing gears. as I look closer at the fly wheel the starter gears wheel are to small to engage the fly wheel gear. I know there are two different starters one for automatic transmission and one for manual. OK my Volvo has a automatic manual transmission . will the car need the manual transmission starter. the old starter was bad when I replaced it with two different starters for automatic. but they still will not engage the fly wheel.

The T6 was not made with a manual transmission. I suspect that the auto parts place is looking up the info incorrectly.volvo24209 wrote:I have replaced the starter on my 1999 volvo s-80 T6 2.8. but the starter for an automatic transmission will not engage the fly wheel. which is in good condition no missing gears. as I look closer at the fly wheel the starter gears wheel are to small to engage the fly wheel gear. This should be the one you need: volvo part # 8111199. Try plugging it in at www.myswedishparts.com or www.tascafordparts.com
Where are you getting your parts from?
