91 940 SE turbo wgn (again)
Car backfired and died, wife said she restarted the car just fine but, will not pull it's self. I went and retrieved car from side of road (again). This car , as I mentioned will start and idle all day, but when the gas pedal is depressed to rev up the engine or when put in drive or reverse the engine will choke down and die. The code is 1-2-1 (MAF signal missing) new MAF 1 month old, and plugged in or unplugged it makes no difference. Does anyone have a clue. I'm on my last nerve with this car.

Fuel injection main relay can also cause this fault code.
To test it connect a voltmeter between fuel injection ECU terminal #9 and earth (ground). Connect a jumper wire from FI ECU terminal #21 and earth. The relay should close and voltmeter should show battery voltage.
Bill.

Hi Bill
I'm posting to ask some further questions about this problem.
Can you elaborate on the FI ECU? Is it the computer that sits behind the passenger side kick panel? Where is the FI main relay located? Will the ECU need to be replaced or just the relay? Sorry for so many questions but, I'm fairly clueless on this kind of stuff. I appreciate your help.

That is the FI ECU.
The first attachment gives a little insight to testing the ECU and the second is of the fuse/relay panel showing the FI relay at position E. You don't need to carry out all the tests but the first paragraph is important.
Before deciding on what needs to be replaced do the tests. The relay is the most likely culprit but.......
