02 C70 Convertible - USA 65K dash flashes dISC ?
The trip computer display on the dash flashes "dISC" randomly. Cant find what this means in the manual. Also just recently (Probably once a week) while shifting into 2nd gear the engine surges approx 1500rpm just briefly.

Definitely on the first issue, you are having some electrical glitches...when you see DISC this stands for "Disconnected," as in your instrument panel is somehow disconnected from your ECU (car's computer). The later issue sounds like your ETM...look in that section of this forum for more information....I believe your car (C70 '02) was the last year with this issue. Good news is that if you do have an ETM issue, it is covered by Volvo for 100K miles or 10 years, whichever comes first.

(sigh)
All this means is the switch contacts are dirty.
Rotate the knob several times back and forth, that should clear it up.
You may have to do this a few times.
The tranny flare is just that, your tranny.
I suggest you have it flushed, install the latest software, reset the adaptors and check the B4 servo.
It it is NOT the ETM

Like Jim said, do the transmission flush- let's hope it's not the ETM, but looking at data from Volvo, yes, the '02 C70's were the last year that the known-to-fail ETM's were installed.... You will have to most likely deal with this at some point- hopefully, much later, but still at a time that it is covered under warranty.

Thanks for the responses. I will try the flush and look into the ETM and let you know.. Rolled the knob on the trip computer and ... time will tell - didnt do it today. Drove home with the top down today and reminded myself how much We enjoy the car!!
For the "disc" problem, buy a can of Lectra-motive electrical contact spray, pull the round knob off the switch and spray the white shaft. Work the switch back and forth through all positions, put the knob back on and Bob's your uncle. I just went through this on my '01 C70 convertible.
