Such a thing as a fuel switch on my 02 S40??

Post by Neubygetsdeals »

My little tank recently stalled out on the freeway and refused to start. It had been giving me trouble starting and has a bit of a gas smell sometimes. When the tow truck got there the driver said some vehicles have a fuel safety switch that gets faulty after some extensive miles and may have been the reason behind my car not starting?? I hadn't heard of this before??? My other guesses are the timing belt which I had never had changed (i know i know), or the fuel pump???

How many miles on your car?
I've never heard of a fuel cut-off switch, but I really don't know S40's...could be fuel pump, the fuel pump regulator or fuel pump relay... or something else.

It was actually the timing belt and the regulator. Thanks for the response! In line with that- I'm having trouble finding a repair manual for my 02 S40...any ideas where to get the timing info??? Thanks!

You really won't find a manual for your car- best bet it to buy the VADIS DVD set sold on eBay- load it on your computer- you'll have tons of other Volvo's in there as well but it will give you a lot of how-to's and specs for your car that are invaluable.
